Description
Queen Square | City of Saint John, New Brunswick
Just a few blocks south of its counterpart, King’s Square, Queen Square also features footpaths shaped in an X pattern and features mature trees for shade. Queen Square was once one of the most fashionable districts in the City. The homes were built by wealthy citizens following the Great Fire of 1877. A monument of Samuel de Champlain was erected to mark the 300th anniversary of his naming the St. John River. On Sundays between May and October, Queen Square is home to a popular open-air farmers’ market.
